Deputy PM confirms plan to grade power prices for households

MOSCOW, Oct 2 (PRIME) -- Russia plans to differentiate power consumption tariffs for households from July 1, 2019, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said on Tuesday, when business daily Kommersant reported that the government is considering capping household power consumption and raising the price for the power used above the limit.

Kozak said, “This is not a return to the social limit, no final decision has been made but we must bring this in order: grade different categories of consumers depending on the amount of consumption… We want this to come in force by next summer.”

He added that the measure will likely be launched from July 1, when a tariff period starts.

He said that the change in the tariff policy will not increase households’ bills, except those who use industrial equipment to produce goods or have mansions.
